70+ Years, a Maine Tradition
We are where the locals have been going for the freshest seafood since the 1930's. We have live and cooked lobsters, fresh picked lobster and hand-picked crabmeat, local clams, coolers and airboxes.
Days Crabmeat and Lobster Pound and Take Out is a true Maine experince
Days Crabmeat and Seafood started out in Porter's Landing in Freeport when John Hilton and his brother Charles constructed a small building in a week in the mid 1920's to use for selling crabmeat and crabmeat rolls. It was a new idea then as fewer lobsters were showing up in traps.

This is an old photo dating back to the early part of the last century.
The business then moved to it's present location and was sold to Robert Neal Day, Sr. in 1943. He ran it for 9 years and then sold it to his son Robert Day, Jr. The younger day ran the business in the summer for 35 Years. The family lived on site in the south side of the building.
Sandy Thibeau, the current owner started working for Days when she was 16 years old. In 1988 she purchased the business with her now former husband. In 2010 they did major renovations to the take out and pound as seen in the photos below.
A lot has happened in the area since the trolley care used to go up route one past Days to the castle in Freeport. Days remains, however, much the same.
